If you're an outdoor enthusiast, Nicks Retreat is the place for you!!

There are endless amount of trails in and around the area. During the spring, summer and fall, you can spend hours riding the trails on your ATV, the trails consist of those that are for beginners to those that are not of the faint of heart. The OFTR(Ontario Federation of Trail Riders) host yearly runs. Best of all, no trail pass is required. During the winter, these trails are used by the OFSC(Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs). Trail Pass is required. You will witness the most breathtaking views that are only accessible by either your Quad or Sled. You can spend the day navigating a 110km loop, visiting 3 small towns in the area, returning you back to the property. The property boasts lots of space to park your Quads or Sleds.

Are you are looking to get away and spend some time with the family? There is a beautiful quiet sandy beach only minutes away!! The water is crystal clear, offers a large sandbar, picnic tables and a play area for the kids, and fish off the dock. Algonquin Park is only a short 30 minute drive away. Horseback riding, dog sledding, bear watching and ATV rentals also can be done in the area.

Is fishing your thing? There are 2 bigger lakes within minutes north and south of the property. If you are more adventurous, there are many other smaller lakes that can be accessed with a short portage with your gear. Being harder to get to, the fishing is good! Best of you, most likely it will only be you on the lake. The property offers you lots of space to park your boat and trailer.

At the end of the day, exchange your experiences sitting around the fire pit, enjoying a coffee or beverage of your choice. If its a clear night, dont forget to look up, the night sky offers a sight of the heavens that is only available when you are this far north!

So whatever your preference is, Nicks Retreat, is conveniently located, and the location caters to those that crave different adventures. The majority of the land is public(crown land), so the adventures are endless!! Get out and enjoy the beauty Ontario has to offer.

 Thanks for your time,

 Nick

During last years  show we started throwing around the idea of possibly having the fridge stocked with some food(cost of food plus a small fee in addition to the nightly rate) to accommodate the snowmobilers that would be passing by for the night. If you feel that this would be something you would be interested in, please let us know at nicksretreat@hotmail.ca. Our cottage is also accessible off of OFSC 175 via Cross Lake.

 Thanks for your time,

 Nick

Surrounded by amazingly beautiful trees 5 out of 5

Hi Nick, Thank you so much for providing the cottage for us during the Thanksgiving weekend.  We are very happy with the stay. The place is surrounded by amazingly beautiful trees, leafs, and lakes. The distance from the cottage to the Algonquin provincial  park is reasonable for driving. We enjoyed the quiet environment, the beautiful night sky with countless stars, and a nice BBQ. We even observed shooting stars, wow! We wish to visit there next time. Thanks, -Heng

I didn't want to leave! 5 out of 5

The accommodations at Nick's retreat were more then comfortable. The spacious kitchen for cooking and clean, newly renovated bathroom made traveling with kids a breeze. Not to mention the convenience of a large mudroom which is a must have for an outdoors vacation. A large washer and dryer are available in the house and easy to access- or dry your clothes in the Canadian breeze on one of the two very nice clothes lines outback. The yard is perfect for a picnic, campfire or kids who just need space to play. Or, drive a very short distance down the road and enjoy the small, amazingly clean and beauitful, beach/park on Bark Lake. My daughter made sure we stopped by the park daily! Maynooth and Barry's Bay make nice out-and-about activities, both are full of local artwork and friendly people. Drive a bit further and explore the route 60 corridor of Algonquin Park. The logging museum there is entirely outdoors and was a wonderful stop for our energetic pre-schooler. Access to water is plentiful even within 5 minutes from the house. We boated daily and fished with endless success. This is a great place to get your kids involved with the outdoors. My daughter never missed her tablet and begged to stay longer! However, the highlight of our trip was the hospitality we received from both Nick and other neighbors. Thank you!

One Weeks Not Enough 5 out of 5

I have been coming to Nicks Retreat for years. Spring, summer, fall and winter. Every season offers something special. During the days, excursions to the quaint villages surrounding Nicks's Retreat, drives to Algonquin Park to see the Moose along the highway, the Visitor Centre, swimming at Bark Lake, going fishing at Cross Lake, toasting marshmallows around the fire pit, hearing the wolves howl, wishing on shooting stars, seeing the spectacular colour of fall. The peace and tranquility that I feel each and every time I come here is incredible. The beds are comfortable, the house is spotless. The house has everything you would need to make your stay memorable. I would highly recommend Nick's Retreat to everyone, oh yes, my dog loves coming here and seeing the pups next door. Both she and I are sad to leave!! Great place Nick, it's awesome and you did a remarkable job!!

Nick's Retreat5 out of 5

Stayed for a week at Nick's Retreat with our family. This was our second stay with Nick and again we had a great time. The accommodations are very clean and comfortable and I would recommend a stay here. The area is beautiful with a couple of very nice swimming areas and is very close to Algonquin Park and bear watching in Whitney.

Thanks for the week Nick!

Welcoming and Accommodating 5 out of 5

"We spent three relaxing days at Nick's Retreat in the latter part of August 2014. As it was stated in the web page, everything was there for our use. The only thing we had to bring was our food and beverage. The accommodations were very clean and neat despite the on going renovations and improvements that were being completed, which did not interfere with our stay. Nick was very welcoming and accommodating with our family and used his charismatic personality to guide and explain the area to us. We were able to enjoy the nearby lakes for successful fishing and relaxation. We would definitely recommend a visit to Nicks Retreat."
